The NSP-5 Ku is designed for versatile integration as a standalone sensor payload or complement to existing payloads. It is easily attached to an aircraft’s wing or fuselage.
Adding the NSP-5 Ku to any aircraft high-resolution SAR, coherent change detection (CCD), moving target indication (MTI), and maritime search and detection.
With the lowest size, weight, and power of any SAR system available, the NSP-5 Ku provides smaller platforms advanced capabilities that previously have not been available.
NSP-5 Ku shares the same mounting system as the other NSP-5 Products. Any NSP-5 pod can be swapped quickly and easily to meet mission needs and available resources.

SAR is an all-weather, day or night, imaging system used to generate high-resolution imagery of the ground from an aerial platform.
MTI identifies and tracks moving targets by sending out radar pulses and analyzing the Doppler shift of the returned signals.
CCD processes two SAR images of the same scene taken at different times to create a new image highlighting the differences.

The NSP-5 family is made for organic operations where the needs of the mission can change quickly and dramatically.
As a contributing technology in many geospatial intelligence efforts, the advantages of SAR are well known. Using energy in the radio spectrum not visible to the human eye, synthetic aperture radar systems use their own source of illumination to reveal, with equal clarity during day or night, how the target area looks. Due to their unique wavelength characteristics, the radio waves used in synthetic aperture radar are not obscured by atmospheric obstructions and thus can see through cloud cover, smoke, fog and many other weather conditions. Because of the nature of the synthetic aperture of SAR, altitude and distance do not prevent SAR systems from capturing high-resolution images. With these advantages unique to SAR, the NSP-5 Ku is an indispensable part of any advanced sensor system.
